Which Continental Airlines credit card should OnePass members get?

Which Continental Airlines credit card should a OnePass member get? There are at least eight credit cards that allow OnePass members to earn miles. Chase and American Express credit cards all offer such choice. We explore each of these credit cards in this article with the aim of helping OnePass members decide on the most appropriate Continental Airlines credit card.

Summary - Among all the Continental Airlines credit cards, we recommend the Chase Continental Airlines World MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card and the Chase Travel Rewards® Platinum MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card. Small business owners who are also OnePass members should consider the American Express® Business Green Rewards Card. Let us explore the reasons why we recommend these cards and also take a closer look at the others.

Continental Airlines Credit Card - Personal

continental airline world master card
The Chase Continental Airlines World MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card allows you to earn double miles from Continental Airlines purchases and also purchases from selected Chase merchants. These include CVS, AT&T;, Macy's, Bed Bath & Beyond. KB Toys, Best Buys and Home Depot. You also get 10,000 bonus miles after your first purchase. Best of all, you get two travel discount certificates every year (which is worth up to $100). Here is how it works, if you buy a Continental ticket which cost betweem $175 and $274, the discount certificate saves you $25.00. If it cost between $275 and $399, you save $50.00. If it cost $400 and above, you save $100. This is a very important as these savings can partially or fully cover the $85.00 annual fee. You can also earn unlimited miles with this card. We highly recommend the Chase Continental Airlines World MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card to Continental OnePass members because

  • You can earn double miles
  • You can earn unlimited miles
  • Making use of the 2 travel discount certificates you get annually will partially and in some cases more than offset the $85.00 annual fee

chase travel reward
OnePass members who absolutely do not want to pay any annual fee for their credit cards can also earn OnePass miles through a couple of other credit cards. The Chase Travel Rewards® Platinum MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card is a travel credit card that has no annual fee and allows cardholders to convert points into Continental OnePass miles at a one-for-one ratio. You are effectively earning miles at a rate of one mile for every dollar you spend (versus double miles on the chase continental airlines card). Unlike the Chase Continental Airlines Mastercard®, you do not get any bonus miles or annual travel discount certificates. However, you do get a 0% introductory apr on balance transfers for up to 12 months. Also, if you decide to take another airline, the Travel Rewards partners over 250 airlines, which means you should be able to get a flight to your destinations on your preferred dates with other airlines as well.

american express blue cash
The Blue from American Express is based on membership rewards options, which counts Continental Onepass as an airline partner. American Express Blue cardholders will be able to convert membership reward points at a rate of one OnePass mile for every two points (not as good as the Chase Travel Rewards® card, though it has good shopping rewards which the Chase Travel Rewards does not have). The Blue card also has no annual fee. Though the Blue Card is a very reward credit card, we would not recommend the it solely for the purpose of accumulating OnePass miles.

chase ultimate rewards mastercard
The Chase Ultimate Rewards® Platinum Mastercard® is a reward program also allows you to convert points into OnePass miles at a rate of one OnePass miles for every two dollars, which is not as good as the Chase Travel Rewards® Platinum MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card. However, aside very good travel rewards, the Ultimate Rewards® program, unlike the Travel Rewards® program, has a very comprehensive shopping benefits. There is no annual fee as well. The Chase Ultimate Rewards card is a very good reward credit card. In fact, most of the flight rewards are with Continental Airlines. It also has a very good shopping reward program. However, this card should not be used for the sole purpose of accumulating OnePass miles.

american express rewards green card
Both the American Express® Rewards Green Card and the American Express® Rewards Gold Card allow you to convert points into OnePass Miles. They are both based on the membership rewards options program and like the Blue Card, allows you to convert at a rate of one mile for every two points. However, the Green and Gold Card has an annual fee of $65 and $90 respectively and hence, we would not recommend these two cards solely for accumulating OnePass miles.

Continental Airlines Credit Card - Business

american express business rewards green ard
American Express offer two business credit cards that allow you to earn points that can be converted into OnePass Miles. The American Express® Business Green Rewards Card is based on the membership rewards program and allows you to convert membership reward points into OnePass miles at a rate of one-for-one. The first year fees are waived. Subsequently, the annual fee is $95.00 and $40.00 for additional cards. Small business owners may want to consider combining either a Chase Continental Airlines World MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card or a Chase Travel Rewards® Platinum MasterCard® continental airlines mileage credit card with the American Express® Business Green Rewards Card to turbo charge your OnePass miles accumulation.

american express platinum business card
The Platinum Business Card from American Express® allows cardholders to enroll for free in the membership rewards options program. You can then convert points into OnePass miles at a rate of one OnePass mile for every two points. This business card has no annual fee and also no additional card fee.
