("Card issued by Bank of America, N.A. (USA)")

The Choice Privileges Visa Platinum was last reviewed on 11th August 2005

Summary - Choice Privileges is a reward program for the budget conscious traveller with over 3000 locations in the US. The reward program is simple - no tier membership and has a standard 10 points for every dollar spent accumulation formula. There is no blackout dates and at an average rate of $60 per night, and only 6000 points to redeem, you only need 10 nights stay to get a night free. Having the Choice Privileges Visa® Platinum lets you earn 50% more points when you charge your bills to your credit card (ie you earn 5 points for every dollar spent at Choice Privileges locations with your card plus 10 points you will get as a Choice Privileges member). You will also earn 2 Choice Privileges points for every dollar you spend on other purchases. There is no annual fee and you can also earn unlimited points. Let's look at this card in more detail

Reward Formula - The Choice Privileges Visa Platinum allows the cardholder to earn 5 points for every dollar spent at Choice Privileges locations. As a Choice Privileges member, you will earn 10 points for every dollar you spend. Hence, you will earn 15 points per dollar when you have this card. You earn two points for every dollar you spend on other purchases. You can earn unlimited points. Choice Privileges points expire in two years.

Annual Fee and APR - The Choice Privileges Visa Platinum Card has no annual fees. You get a 1.9% apr on both purchases and balance transfers for six billing cycles. The apr ranges between prime rate plus 9.99% to 13.99%. The average daily balance method (including new purchases) is used to calculate monthly balances.

Conclusion - If you are a member of Choice Privileges reward program, then the Choice Privileges Visa® Platinum will help you achieve your free nights faster. Furthermore, you can earn unlimited points and there is no annual fee.

Choice Privileges Reward Program Brief Snapshot

Point Accumulation - You earn 10 points for every dollar spent at Comfort Inn, Comfort Suites, Quality, Sleep Inn, Clarion and Mainstay Suites hotels. You only earn for qualifying rooms rates and does not include estaurant charges and incidental charges. You can also choose to earn airmiles rather than hotel points. You will earn 250 miles per stay at all eligible stays at the above mentioned hotels or 150 miles per stay at US Econo Lodge and Rodeway Inn hotels. Air Canada Aeroplan members earn 250 miles per stay at all Canadian located Choice Privileges hotels. Southwest Rapid Reward members can earn 0.5 credits per stay at all Choice Privileges hotels.

Minimum Points required for Redemption, Points Expiration - The minimum points required for a free 1 night stay at Choice Privileges is 6000 points. That means you need to spend $600 on your hotel stays to earn a free night stay. This is slightly lower than the average hotel reward program.
