December 18, 2005 01:33 - Review of the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card for College Student

We have just update our review of the Citi® Dividend Platinum Select® Visa® Card for College Student.

This is perhaps the only student credit card that allows you to earn 5% rebates on purchases at standalone supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores. You can also earn rebates when you make a cash advance and balance transfers above $1,500. The rebate formula is exactly identical to the regular Citi Dividend Card (for those who are familiar).

December 18, 2005 12:33 - Review of the Citi Drivers Edge Card for College Student

We have just updated our review of the Citi® Drivers Edge® Card for College Students.

The Citi Drivers Edge Card (both the regular and student) version have gone through a few changes over time that have made this a much better card. When it was first launched, it was a basic auto credit card. But it was a good one in that it allows a cardholder to use the rebates they earn to buy or lease any vehicle (new or used, domestic or foreign, cars or trucks). An improvement was made when the card paid 3% rebates on purchases at standalone supermarkets, gas stations and drugstores. Then a better improvement was made in that cardholders can elect to exchange their rebates for reward points. This was a very useful feature because cardholders may change their minds about using their rebates for an auto purchase. Now, Citibank has improved upon the card by allowing cardholders to earn points on the miles you drive on your vehicle! Read our review of the Citi® Driver's Edge® Card for College Student to find out how.

December 19, 2005 19:53 - Review of the Pulaski Bank Visa Gold Card

We have just update our review of the Pulaski Bank Visa® Gold .

In our opinion, this is one of the best low interest rate credit card around. Aside from having a low apr, this card also has the following features.

1. It has a 25 day grace period rather than the standard 20 day grace period given by most credit cards.

2. It uses the "monthly periodic rate" to calculate your finance charges. Most credit cards these days use the "daily periodic rate" which results in a high effective apr being charged to cardholders.

3. The cash advance apr is the same as the purchase apr.

4. The introductory 0% apr starts from the date of transfer, but from the day of account opening.

5. There is no balance transfer or cash advance fee.

Check our our updated review of the Pulaski Bank Visa Gold here.

December 20, 2005 20:45 - Review of the Pulaski Bank Mastercard or Visa

We have just updated our review of the Pulaski Bank MasterCard® or VISA®.

It has almost identical features as the Visa Gold version that we have just reviewed. The only difference is that it has an even lower fixed rate apr at 7.99%. In fact, this is one of the lowest rate around. However, this card has an annual fee. Hence, if you have a very good credit, and are being charged a high apr, you might want to consider this card. You do have to compare the savings you make with a lower apr against the annual fee you have to pay.

December 28, 2005 10:46 - Low Interest Credit Card

We have just updated our "low interest credit card" directory. We have made a couple of following changes.

Firstly, we have highlighted things that one should look out for when choosing a credit card with a low apr. They are :

1. you should preferably choose cards which use the average daily balance method to calculate monthly balances and avoid cards which use the 2-cycle method.

2. Try to find cards which use the "monthly periodic rate" rather than the "daily periodic rate".

3. If possible, try getting a card which gives a 25 days of grace period.

We have also highlighted our recommended cards and split the directory into basic no-frills low apr credit cards and reward or cash back credit cards with low apr.

December 31, 2005 23:42 - Review of the American Express Membership Rewards Program

I have just finished reviewing the American Express Membership Rewards program and frankly speaking am quite amazed at the number of rewards available.

I have been an American Express Gold cardholder for about 11 years and have always been impressed by their customer service. I use my membership reward points mainly for airline tickets and hotel stays. The reward program has worked for me since I am a member of a few frequent flyer programs and used to travel frequently.

What surprised me as I went through pages of rewards was the sheer number of choices available and how much I have under-utilized the reward choices I have. It is not just a good reward program for travel (airline and hotel stays), but is actually a great shopping and entertainment reward program as well. One of the rewards that caught my eye was in the "experience category". You can actually redeem points for a three day racing course and zero-gravity flight. If are one of the lucky ones to have accumulated 3,000,000 points, you can get to experience an "Edge of Space flight on a MIG25". For 20,000,000 points, you get to experience a sub-orbital spaceflight. Crazy stuff!
