August 3, 2005 21:29 - Review of American Express Jet Blue

American Express has recently partnered with JetBlue and came up with a JetBlue credit card. We are now offering the JetBlue Card from American Express® on our website.

As usual, we have written a review of this credit card. Like the latest Mexicana Airline Visa offering from Bank of America, the JetBlue Card from American Express allows you to earn "double miles:, unlimited miles, and also has a very reasonable annual of $40.00 compared to $75.00-$85.00 for other airline credit cards that allow you to earn double miles.

You do however have to be a frequent flyer of JetBlue to make full use of this card. This is because this card transfers your TrueBlue points into your TrueBlue account once you have earned 1 TrueBlue point. TrueBlue points (like Southwest Airlines Rapid points) are only valid for one year. You can read our review of the American Express Jet Blue here. (Read Article)

August 31, 2005 22:02 - Added the Chase Cash Plus Rewards to our Editors' Choice List

We have added the Chase Cash Plus Rewards Visa® to our Editors' Choice List. This card was introduced on 1st August 2005, replacing the the Chase Cashbuilder and Ultimate Cash Award Card which werediscontinued.

Unlike its predecessors, this card is not a tiered cash rebate credit card, but instead has almost identical features to the Citi Dividend Platinum Select Card. In fact, it is Citi's direct competitor. Here is where they are identical :
  • They both give a 5% cash rebates on purchases at supermarket/grocers, gas stations and drugstores.
For both cards, you can earn up to $300 in annual cash rebates
  • You get a 0% introductory apr for 12 months on both cards

However, there are a few differences.
  • The Cash Plus Rewards allows the cardholder to exchange cash rebates for gift certificates and rewards instead if they choose to do so (similar to Discover Cards)
  • Though both give a 0% apr for 12 months, the Citi Dividend Card has a better deal because they do not charge a balance transfer fee and also because the 12 month period starts from the date of transfer, not account opening
  • The Citi uses the average daily balance method (including new purchases) of calculating monthly balance, while the Chase Cash Plus Rewards use the 2-cycle method
.

Those who want the flexibility of occasionally exchanging cash rebates for gift certificates will find the Chase Cash Plus Rewards more appealing. Those who carry a balance and intend to transfer a balance should opt for the Citi Dividend card instead.

These are two very good cash rebate cards and are both on our Editors' Choice List.

You can read our review of the Chase Cash Plus Rewards here.
